This Privacy Policy explains how SkinMama (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the SkinMama mobile application and related services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1) Information We Collect#

A) Information You Provide

Account Information (required)

  • Name
  • Email address

Required Analysis Information

  • Gender/sex (required)
  • Skin questionnaire responses (required)
  • Facial/skin photos captured or uploaded in-app for scan/analysis (required to use scan/analysis features)

Forum / Community (Public User-Generated Content)

  • Posts, comments, reactions, and any images or text you choose to publish
  • Your display name and profile elements you choose to show

Community Post Attachments (generated inside the app)

Community Post Attachments (generated inside the app): when you create a community post, the post may include and publicly display certain app-generated information such as skin analysis results/summaries, product recommendations, and routine details associated with your account or scans. These attachments are generated within the app and, if included in your post, become public within the forum.

Support Communications

B) Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Services, we collect:

  • Device and app information (device model, operating system version, app version, language)
  • General location derived from IP address (country/region level)
  • Usage and performance data (feature usage, screens viewed, timestamps, interaction patterns)
  • Diagnostics data (crash logs and error reports)

2) Device Permissions and Push Notifications#

Camera / Photos

To use scan/analysis features, we request access to your camera and/or photo library so you can capture or upload facial/skin photos. You can manage permissions in your device settings.

Push Notifications

We may send push notifications related to account activity, reminders, or app features. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

3) How We Use Information#

We use information to:

  • Create and manage accounts and authenticate users
  • Provide skin analysis, scan history, progress tracking, and personalized routines/recommendations
  • Operate forum features (including community posts that may include app-generated attachments) and maintain community safety
  • Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, spam, and policy violations
  • Monitor and improve app performance, stability, and reliability
  • Provide customer support and respond to requests
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and policies

4) Facial/Skin Photos and Analysis Data#

Purpose

We process facial/skin photos you submit to:

  • Generate non-medical skin analysis outputs (e.g., indicators, scores, and summaries)
  • Track changes over time through scan history
  • Provide routine recommendations and related personalization

The Services provide informational and cosmetic/self-care guidance and are not medical diagnosis or treatment.

User Submission and Control

We only process photos you actively submit through the app. Scan/analysis requires photo submission.

Storage and Scan History

SkinMama stores scan history, which includes:

  • Uploaded/captured facial/skin images
  • Derived analysis results, indicators, and scores

Scan history cannot be turned off.

Deletion

Users can delete their account from in-app profile settings. When an account is deleted, associated account data and scan history are deleted from our production systems, subject to Section 10 (Retention).

5) Public Forum / Community (User-Generated Content)#

SkinMama includes a public forum. Content you post may be visible to other users and may be shared by them outside the Services.

Community Posts and App-Generated Information

When you create a community post, you may be required to share to the public forum certain information generated inside the app, such as:

  • Skin analysis results or summaries
  • Product recommendations
  • Routine details

If you publish a post that includes these items, they become public within the forum. Do not create a post if you do not want this information to be public. Other users may copy, screenshot, reshare, or reference public posts, and we cannot control what others do with content once it is public.

Reporting, Moderation, and Enforcement

We provide in-app tools to report posts and comments. We use a combination of automated detection, community reports, and human review to identify and address content that violates our rules. Content may be restricted or removed automatically based on violations and report signals, and we may restrict accounts for repeated or severe violations.

We may retain reports and enforcement records to maintain safety, prevent repeat abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

6) AI Features (Chat and Analysis)#

Chatbot

SkinMama includes an AI chatbot feature.

  • We do not store user chat logs as a user-accessible chat history feature.
  • Messages are processed to generate responses and may be temporarily handled for service operation, safety, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.

AI Processing

We use a combination of third-party AI services and self-hosted AI services to provide analysis and chatbot functionality. Inputs may be transmitted to these services solely to generate the requested results. Third-party AI processors are not permitted to use your submitted content for advertising or model training unless we explicitly obtain your consent.

7) When We Share Information#

We share information only as needed to operate the Services, including with service providers that help us provide:

  • Cloud hosting, database, and storage
  • Analytics (to understand usage and improve the app)
  • Diagnostics/crash reporting (to fix errors and improve reliability)
  • AI inference (to generate analysis and chatbot responses)

We may also share information:

  • If required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request
  • To protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, and our Services
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets

We do not sell your personal information.

8) Third-Party Websites and Services#

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Your use of third-party services is governed by their policies.

9) International Data Transfers#

Your information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. We take measures intended to protect information during international transfers, consistent with applicable law.

10) Data Retention#

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, maintain safety and integrity, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

Account deletion: When you delete your account from in-app settings, we delete associated personal information and scan history from our production systems, except where limited retention is required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or enforcement of our policies.

Forum and safety records: Reports and enforcement logs may be retained to prevent abuse and protect users.

11) Security and Disclaimer of Liability#

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet and no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any unauthorized access, use, disclosure, loss, alteration, or destruction of your information resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to cyberattacks, security breaches, or failures of networks, devices, or third-party systems.

If you are located in the EEA or UK, we process personal information only when we have a valid legal basis, including:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the Services you request
  • Consent: where required (for example, when you submit photos for analysis)
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, operate, and improve the Services and prevent abuse
  • Legal obligations: to comply with applicable laws and lawful requests

13) Your Rights#

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your information, and to object to certain processing.

To exercise your rights, contact us at support@skinmama.app. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

14) Do-Not-Track#

Some browsers and operating systems offer a “Do Not Track” feature. There is no consistent industry standard for honoring DNT signals, so we do not respond to them.

15) Children#

SkinMama is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the Services, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

16) Changes to This Policy#

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date and may provide additional notice for material changes where required.

Tip: If you update the policy later, keep the “Last Updated” date accurate and ensure this page stays reachable from your app, site, and store listings.
